Public transport links, infrastructure and community facilities were among the many areas discussed at a public consultation drop-in event held in the Quintins Centre in Hailsham on Friday [19 January].
At the drop-in session, which took place at the former Wizard Stores retail unit on Friday afternoon, residents were able to find out more about the Draft Neighbourhood Plan for Hailsham and discuss specific issues with Committee representatives.
Friday’s drop-in session, which was a follow-up to the public consultation which took place at the Civic Community Hall in November, was one of various public feedback exercises being undertaken by the Neighbourhood Planning Committee during the current public consultation period, which ends on Friday 26th January.
“Thanks to all residents who came along to our drop-in session at the Quintins Centre – and of course, to everyone who helped organise and staff the event,” said Councillor Glenn Moore, chairman of the Neighbourhood Planning Committee.
“We have already received lots of feedback from residents in terms of important infrastructure requirements and issues to support future housing growth in Hailsham and have responded to comments made during earlier consultation events.”
“We are currently seeking your views on the draft Neighbourhood Plan, all of which will be reviewed when preparing the final version,” added Councillor Moore.
“The opinions and findings of everyone who takes part in our consultations have and will continue to be put into the mix and I’d encourage residents take part in the recently launched survey, whether they attended Friday’s drop-in session or not.”
Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman commented: “The Town Council’s Neighbourhood Plan is being produced for the benefit of local people and public engagement exercises such as this provide a real opportunity for residents to help influence the way in which Hailsham is developed in the future.”
“We hope residents found Friday’s drop-in session useful and informative – and I would encourage those who didn’t attend to take part in our questionnaire survey during the consultation period.”
The Regulation 14 Consultation Feedback survey for the pre-submission draft Neighbourhood Plan will run until 4pm on Friday 26th January and can be completed online at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/draftNP
